Dr. Jeanne Jakob offers outpatient individual psychotherapy services to adults 18+, parents, and select older teens. She has provided more than 5800 therapy sessions since she has been in practice, not counting the 7 years of supervised hours she received as part of her PhD training. Dr. Jakob opened her 1st private practice office in Plymouth, Michigan (2011-2015) and has held offices in Mountain View, Los Gatos and currently Morgan Hill.
Dr. Jakob’s clientele has included knowledge workers (tech, legal, health, education) and caregivers. She has helped many women find balance and self-esteem in the various roles they play and life stages they encounter. She is familiar with the mental health impact of working and raising children in a fast-paced, competitive region that also offers rich learning experiences, natural beauty, and innovation. Dr. Jakob’s sessions often incorporate relaxation and mindfulness techniques to interrupt daily patterns of chronic stress and burnout.
Dr. Jakob is mother to two children. You can read more about her HERE.
Dr. Jakob’s psychotherapy sessions incorporate a vast repertoire of mindfulness, relaxation, and experiential-based techniques based on 20+ years of practicing yoga, attending ACT and mindfulness retreats, and becoming skilled emotion regulation, hypnosis, and exposure-based techniques.
As an adjunct (but not replacement for) 1:1 psychotherapy sessions, clients can schedule ad-hoc mindfulness sessions.
Dr. Jakob also offers group-based, live guided mindfulness sessions to the general public.
Effective psychotherapy is not just about feeling better.
It is about learning new skills and learning new ideas.
Dr. Jakob highly recommends her ACT/CBT/DBT class (8, 1 hour Zoom Sessions) as a educational foundation getting the most out of psychotherapy.
This class is not group therapy. There is minimal interaction among class participants.
